1 - 10 July - Knysna Oyster FestivalCelebrate the good life with the 'Best 10 Days of Your Winter' – that’s right, it’s time for the Knysna Oyster Festival. One of the most well attended annual events in the Western Cape, that has taken place every year since 1983, is spread across two weekends that promise constant fun and activities for the whole family. Each year we select and showcase 5 inspiring organisations chosen for their unique approach to making a difference in the lives of others at the flagship event, an annual black tie fundraiser. They hope to change the way professionals, entrepreneurs, and other South African opinion leaders think about philanthropy and social change and create a rewarding, fun and enjoyable avenue for people to give back. For more info, visit there website here. 9 July - Villiera Bastille Day Food & Wine EventWith one toe in France, Villiera celebrates Bastille Day each year and they use the opportunity to show off their fabulous Domaine Grier range from the Roussillon (South of France). This year they will be having a French themed food and wine event in the Villiera Cellar on the 9th of July at 12h00. Where they’ll show different vintages of selected wines in the range with dishes designed to accompany the styles. The cost is R450 per person and it promises to be a fun filled afternoon. As the weather gets colder, as we are approaching mid-winter quickly, the Food & Wine Marquee at the Bastille Fest is the place to keep warm, and of course indulge in great food & wine. With plenty of parking within walking distance of the village, you can treat yourself by tasting some of the countries best wines, accompanied with food from some of South Africa’s top restaurants. Tickets to the Food & Wine Marquee cost R220 per person and include entry, a complimentary tasting glass, a booklet of five wine tasting coupons as well as a R20 wine voucher to be redeemed at the festival. Mark Norrish, GM of Ultra Liquors Wine Division has personally selected participants for this year’s tournament. The iconic Den Anker Restaurant will be the host for this auspicious event. Tickets are available here. 26 July - Cape Town Street Food Fest - WoodstockThis festival beats the streets to find the best of South Africa's street cuisine and showcases how local is Lekker! Plus, it provides a platform for the talented ‘small fry’ to go against the ‘big fish’ of South African tastes.
The only street food festival in South Africa is taking place in Cape Town on the 26th July 2016 and is testament to being voted best foodie city in the world! Attendees can expect a unique culinary experience of authentic street food. Additionally, there will be a series of talks and workshops on topics such as dealing with the media, logo and packaging design, food trends, food styling, marketing and making food your business.
