We have all been waiting patiently for summer to arrive, and with the warm weather and festivities  just around the corner we cannot keep these exciting upcoming events to ourselves any longer! 

6-9 Oct - Rocking the Daisies - Darling

Rocking the Daisies Music and Lifestyle Festival is the biggest camping outdoor gatherings in South Africa. With the motto “Play hard, tread lightly”, the event spearheads green thinking in the country’s festival space.  Taking place on the first full weekend of October 2016 on the South African calendar as the go-to weekend event to officially kick off the summer season, this year will see over 250 acts take to eleven stages. Incorporating comedy, art, film and a variety of multi-faceted and multi-sensory experiences, festival goers can expect an action-packed weekend of camping, good times, making incredible memories, the best in local and international entertainment and more – an offering unmatched by other festivals in the country, making it an industry leader.

14-16 Oct - Cape Town International Boat Show

The Cape Town International Boat Show is South Africa’s premier boating and watersport showcase.
Now in its 16th year, the show is the only exhibition endorsed by the Marine Industry Association of South Africa. See the best of imported luxury craft, South Africa’s growing stable of catamarans, as well as all the gear and equipment you would expect to see.
Whether you are a current boat owner looking to upgrade your boat, looking for a fun family activity in sailing courses, or one day dream of owning a boat, there is fun to be had for all at the Boat Show.

14-16 Oct - Wine on the River - Robertson

Celebrate Spring on the banks of the Breede River at the Robertson Wine Valley’s 11th annual Wine on the River festival taking place from 14-16 October 2016.  This much loved, open-air spring festival is not to be missed.  Expect to unwind, relax and enjoy fresh country air, beautiful scenery and warm spring sunshine with an array of fine wine, delightful treats and great music. Young and old can soak up the sun, listen to sultry sounds of jazz and blues, meander through the arts & crafts stalls, sip on their favourite wines under shaded trees, savour country cuisine using local ingredients and enjoy a leisurely river cruise.  Tickets available at WebTickets and at the entrance.

15 Oct - TEDx Cape Town - Ratanga Junction

This year, TEDxCapeTown 2016 is Here/Hear to listen. Do away with distraction, opening your minds and pay attention to world-changing ideas that will be shared. 
 
How can we better listen to better understand each other? Why is it so hard to consider someone else’s point of view? How do our beliefs shape our perspective? How does our perspective shape our world? And how can we find more effective ways of communicating that lead to better understanding and connection in a world riddled with conflict and war? These are some of the questions that will be addressed at this year's TEDxCape Town.

18 Oct - Veritas Wine Tasting - CTCC

The esteemed Veritas wine competition for market ready wines, annually grants wine aficionados across the South Africa a chance to taste the country's top winning wines and brandies.
Wine enthusiasts can experience the star-studded Veritas double gold and gold medal winning wines and brandies at a series of tastings and gourmet events countrywide.
 
The Cape Town tasting will take place on Tuesday 18 October 2016 at the CTICC from 17:00-20:00. Tickets are priced at R140.00 per person - wine, brandy and Qualité cheese tasting.

21-22 Oct - Windhoek Oktoberfest - Hillcrest Quarry

The Windhoek Oktoberfest, the only Oktoberfest in Africa where authentic German traditions are celebrated, great atmosphere fuelled by Namibian passion. The Season of Sauvignon Festival is back in the Durbanville Wine Valley this October. Visitors to the Valley can look forward to a month of Sauvignon Blanc festivities and celebrations culminating in the Season of Sauvignon festival on the 29th and 30th October 2016. 29-30 Oct - Pinotage on Tap - Diemersfontein

Awarded “The best wine event” by Drinks International Wine Tourism Awards in 2014, Pinotage on Tap is back for its 12th year, where guests can expect vast amounts of top quality, free flowing pinotage, food stalls and live entertainment.
Tickets cost R435 per person and include Pinotage on tap, lunch and live entertainment.

29-30 Oct - Coastal Foraging with Veld & Sea - Scarborough

​This half day course will introduce you to some of our local edible seaweed, explore the magical world of rock pools, meet like minded people, learn how to sustainably harvest and prepare your macro-algae and shellfish, make various recipes together that will end in a feast.


You will start off the day meeting at the beach, and after an intro and snack on the rocks you will make your way down around the tidal pools to forage for edible seaweeds and mussels. After spending the morning on the rocks, you will head to Gael’s Beach Cottage on foot with the foraged food to prepare and create an outdoor lunch banquet.
 Includes wild food snacks and drinks, a delicious three course lunch based on ingredients foraged and prepared by the group. Notes include intro, identification, recipes and tide charts.
