5-7 Aug - Robertson Slow Food Festival

Time to head out to the country and enjoy the simple pleasures in life at the Robertson Wine Valley Slow food & wine festival from 5-7 August 2016.  Experience the charm of country life in an intimate setting characterised by each farm’s unique personal touch.

One can sample honest, old-fashioned and rural hospitality, while enjoying time-honoured activities, interact with wine-makers and wine-farmers in an informal ambience, getting to know them and their respective families. Indulge in traditional cuisine, using local ingredients, learning more about wine in master classes and various food and wine pairings. Relish the slow food and wine that will satiate your senses and revel in the relaxed pace that will rejuvenate your soul.

6-8 Aug - Hermanus Wine & Food Festival

Every year in August, the Wine region of Hermanus and Walker Bay celebrates their many diverse Wines, Wineries and Wine Makers, by staging the annual Hermanus Wine and Food Festival. This years event (now in it's 19th year) will be held on 6th, 7th and 8th August 2016 to show-case local producers from Elgin to Elim, with over 250 wines from over 80 wine estates on offer.
 
The Hermanus Wine and Food Festival is always voted / nominated as being one of the top 10 Best Wine Shows in South Africa. Each year the event grows bigger and better and attracts at least 5,000 people throughout the weekend.
 
Entry to the venue is R50 per person and to enter the Wine Arena is R100 per person, allowing you to sample as many wines as you desire. Children have their own designated play area.
The Hermanus Wine & Food Festival not only presents so many excellent wines, but also has a large gourmet Food Marquee with a range of delicious food and deli products.
The festival organisers have also arranged for a local transfer service in luxury minibuses to transport visitors to and from the festival all weekend long, so that no-one has to drink'n'drive.

7 Aug - Steam Train trip to the Winelands

27 Aug - Thys Du Toit Memorial Hopefield MTB Challenge

Thys du Toit Memorial MTB Challenge (formerly known as the Hopefield MTB Challenge) is an annual Mountain Bike Challenge that takes riders through the grassy coastal region around Hopefield on the West Coast. The off-road race will take place on Saturday, 27 August 2016 at the Hopefield Sports Field, and will be held in conjunction with the Hopefield Fynbos Show.

This is a great way to warm those legs up this winter! Consider hopping on your bicycle and soaking up the scenery with this family-friendly event. The first 300 entrants will receive a goodie bag.

28 Aug - Blisters For Bread

On Sunday 28 August, 2016, families, corporates, schools, clubs and friends will all get together to walk either 5kms or 10kms in the 48th Blisters for Bread. The starting point for the event is on Fritz Sonnenberg Rd, outside the Green Point Cricket Club. The entries will be limited to 12 000 walkers. The entry fee will once again be R50 per walker.
