Lewis Smith Perched perfectly on the edge of a cliff, clings Cape View Clifton, a small, intimate, modern chic beach house. Spread over four floors the guesthouse can accommodate a maximum of 20 guests in total split between Junior Suites, Deluxe Suites, one 3 bedroom and one 2 bedroom apartments. Cape View presents a few things that differentiate it from any place we have experienced before. These include: the most incredible view for watching the sunset over the ocean, another is the focus on communal guest areas as well as the hotel is being extension of the owner’s house, which really helps portray the home away from home feeling! But, more on that later. Cape View Clifton is an apt name, because of its unique vantage point. Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Twelve Apostles mountain range and the multi-coloured sunsets, the balconies in your room or the pool deck are the perfect vantage point. In addition to this, all of the rooms, balconies and the pool deck are sea facing, meaning you will be in the prime position to catch the afternoon sun and the unobstructed sunsets. The views are captivating at anytime of day or night, and in any weather. We had the pleasure of staying on a stormy winters evening. The frothing ocean crashing against the rocks below us, with the fresh sea air rushing past our window. However, inside our room there was an atmosphere of serenity, peace and relaxation. The furnishings and décor make one feel right at home, so that you can fully unwind whilst they provide everything that you would need. Each room provides a cosy lounge area to sit and catch your thoughts and was perfect for the stormy night, an extremely comfortable bed to catch some Z’s and a magnificent bathroom with a large bath for a long soak, and separate shower for a quick start in the morning. The rooms have floor to ceiling windows, which provide a breath taking view every time you glance outside, as well as also creating a light and airy ambiance. After a good nights rest and waking up in the morning, ready to tackle the next day in the Mother City, you need a good breakfast. This meal at Cape View Clifton is a spectacle in itself, on the communal fourth floor there are two long tables set up for everyone. The spread not only looks fantastic but tastes delicious too, with a fresh and daily changing warm option prepared by the chefs, Celeste & Charmaine. It provides all that you need for the day, food, coffee and good conversation with like-minded travellers. If you are an active morning person, there's a small fitness room on the top floor, with what has to be one of the greatest gym views ever. One can run, cycle or pump some iron whilst looking over the dazzling ocean and Clifton’s famous beaches. Cape View Clifton is an ideal getaway location, with humble hospitality, a relaxed atmosphere, coupled with superb luxury and unparalleled panoramas. With it’s prime location it is easy to get to any destination that you may want to visit during your break.
