Bliss Boutique Hotel - Sunset Beach - BloubergstrandWhen people think of Cape Town’s beaches, images of Camps Bay and Clifton spring to the forefront. Yet Blouberg goes largely un-noticed, which to us seems strange. The Blouberg area encompasses 48km of white sand beaches, with the most well known “Big Bay” just a mere 20 minutes drive from the Cape Town City Centre, which has become synonymous with kitesurfing, the Red Bull King Of The Air competition taking place here for the past 4 years. To see more images and more information see our Bliss Boutique Hotel page. We are proud to introduce to you, a brand new luxury boutique hotel in Cape Town. The formally named Porta Amarela (Yellow Door), sits in Bloubergstrand, with an emphasis on Brazilian design, slotting in just behind the sand dunes with direct access to the pristine beach. However, when we arrived we discovered that the name had just been changed to "Bliss", a reflection of the atmosphere as soon as you walk through the main ‘Yellow Door’. Bliss is a boutique hotel located on Sunset Beach. The beaches name couldn’t be a better fit for the views in the evening; spectacular, never ending, multi-coloured skies dominate the skyline whilst looking over towards Cape Town, Table Mountain, Lion’s Head and Robben Island. We were graced with one of the best sunsets we’ve ever seen, with the sky over the ocean changing from burnt orange to purple and every colour in between, the shadows stretching further across the ocean, whilst watching the twinkling lights of Cape Town burning into life. The combination of interior design, location and atmosphere in the hotel generates a modern & contemporary beach house feel, with laid back, relaxed, yet attentive service. A well knit, friendly team are there for your every need. A butler service on the beach, even a barman with a wide smile who creates delicious, fresh, signature cocktails. The Bliss Martini is a must try for anyone visiting, try and pick out the special ingredients. Interior design was a big project in this great space; every element has been handpicked, hand-made or custom built. The tables in the dining room for example were a custom design and hand built locally at “The Old Biscuit Mill”. Throughout, great attention to detail is evident, beautiful artwork is on display; different textures are highlighted, with small features and pops of colour adding the final panache and charachter to the latest technology, best linens and materials. Whilst it is a modern design with clean lines, there is a homely feeling that shines through, making you feel relaxed and ‘Blissful’. The large beaches and open seaside space is replicated within the hotel, including outdoor decking areas with breath taking views on all levels, a plush pool area to laze and take in a book and a spacious, airy lounge and bar area with traditional Brazilian hanging chairs on the outer deck. Just off of the lounge area is the kitchen, where Dean, the Head Chef at Bliss, crafts marvellous food. Previously, Dean was at Chefs Warehouse on Bree Street, one of Cape Town’s top restaurants. His revamped passion combined with his own creativity is at its peak here at Bliss. This 8-bedroom boutique hotel is the perfect location for a luxurious beach break, weekend away, a romantic marriage proposal or honeymoon destination, it's even great for corporate trips. It even boasts an opportunity for those wanting a large villa in Cape Town, offering exclusive use of the entire 8-bedroom hotel including the staff. A luxury private villa, just for you and friends or family, with all the trimmings, what more could you ask for? This boutique hotel is set to officially open to the public at the beginning of March 2016 (next week). Contact us here to book or for more info. BACK IN TOWN's Top Tips when staying at Bliss.Favourite Room - We may be biased, but the room we stayed in, 103 was our favourite (we did have a look around all of them) a deck area right outside the sliding doors looking onto the sand dunes and Table Mountain, with a magnificent bath and the most comfortable bed!
Favourite Feature - The views, Table Mountain in its entirety plus the ocean, multiplied by the sunsets. A score difficult to beat. Favourite Drink - A great selection of wines, spirits and liqueurs all pale in comparison to the Bliss Martini, the recipe is a secret, so try and pick out the flavours and ingredients as you sip.
