1 April - The Tasting Workshop

The Tasting Workshop brings you a whisky and canapé food pairing taste sensation. This particular event is focused on combining the 6 different flavours of the Bunnahabhain and Scottish Leader whisky range with a well-paired canapé per whisky.

The event will be lead by none other than Pierre Meintjes ('Mr Whisky' of SA). The event will be a sit down banquette setting, with music and a cash bar.

There are only 30 limited tickets available in total, at R280 each, which includes a welcome drink/cocktail and free parking (within the V&A). Dress code: Smart Casual

2 April - The Official Second Hand Market, Green Point

The Official Second Hand Market. Get down to the Salesian’s Campus on April 2nd, 2 Somerset Road, Greenpoint, for Cape Town’s best 2nd hand market! Bring your friends & family and enjoy some good food, delicious gingerbeer, bellydancing, skateboarding & live music.

Entrance is R10 and all money raised goes to empowering young people through education & skills development. Bring warm clothes or stationary you would like to donate – we are preparing for winter and any contributions will be appreciated.

2 April - The Upmarket Market, Woodstock

A market for rare, high-end finds including vintage designer clothing, shoes, jewellery and accessories, fragrances, art, books, antiques, flora, skincare and homeware. Champagne and food stalls will be available on the day for all to enjoy.

1-3 April - Cape Getaway Show, Lourensford Estate

The Western Cape’s largest travel, outdoor and adventure event, The Cape Getaway Show, sponsored by Mercedes-Benz Vans, is back at Lourensford Wine Estate and promises to be bigger and better than before. With live music, delicious food, wine and craft beer. Specials on camping, outdoor and travel gear as well as amazing holiday prizes up for grabs. This is a jam packed weekend you won’t want to miss out on.

The Cape Getaway Show has special events happening each day with loads of adventures for the whole family and a few special treats for the sports fanatics.

1-2 April - Cape Town Jazz Festival, CTICC

The 2016 Cape Town International Jazz Festival (CTIJF) is ready to take over the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) once again from Friday, 1 to Saturday, 2 April 2016 with a jam-packed performance weekend.

This year all attendees can look forward to a line-up that has a slightly ‘sweeter offering’, with everything from jazz legends and newcomers to musical storytellers and upbeat, high-energy acts for those of all ages.

8 April - Jimmy Carr, CTICC

Jimmy Carr is an English-Irish stand-up comedian, television host and actor, known for his signature laugh, deadpan delivery, dark humour, and use of edgy one-liners.
`Funny Business` is Jimmy`s brand new stand up show which he will be performing live in Cape Town at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) on the 8th April 2016 at 18h30 and 21h00.

17 April - SPAR Woman's Race, Cape Town Stadium

The time has come again for ladies to lace up those running shoes and take to the road when the annual SPAR Women’s Race hits Cape Town on Sunday, 17 April 2016.

There are two races (5km and 10km), both of which start at the forecourt behind the Cape Town Stadium, at around 7:30am, and participants are allowed to run or walk. Do note, this is a wheelchair friendly event! If you’re needing an incentive, the first 24 000 runners who cross the finish line can take home an achievement medal. So bring a few friends and enjoy a fun-filled day out while running South Africa’s ‘most beautiful road race’!

21-23 April - Bokeh International Fashion Film Festival

Style icons, fashion aficionados and film fanatics are advised to clear their schedules between the 21-23 April 2016, as the new Aquarium in the V&A Waterfront plays host to the ever glamorous annual Mercedes-Benz Bokeh South African International Fashion Film Festival.

Now in its third year, and internationally acclaimed as the premier Fashion Film Festival, participants can expect three days of inspiration, education, glitz and glamour, all focusing on the masterful marriage of fashion and film. Budding film directors from the world over are offered a global stage to submit their unique short Fashion Films as well as shooting to the brief of “bespoke” and Mercedes-Benz.

25 April - 1 May - Afrikaburn, Stonehenge Private Reserve

This week-long festival takes place at Stonehenge Private Reserve in the Tankwa Karoo (300km north of Cape Town) from the 25th April to the 1st May 2016. The event features art, music and creative performances with the freedom given to express yourself in your own personal way.

Whether it’s watching the burnings, or it’s bartering your goods and services, Afrikaburn is unlike any other festival on the continent. The theme for this year, is X. The only trade at Afrikaburn is bartering, so make sure you bring something of your own to trade with.

29 April - 1 May - Lamberts Bay Crayfish Festival

Lambert's Bay is know as the local crayfish mecca along the West Coast, where masses of crustaceans will be hauled out of the ocean for another delicious 2016 Lamberts Bay Crayfish and Cultural Festival (also known as the Lambertsbaai Kreeffees) from Friday, 29 April to Sunday, 1 May 2016.

Located just two hour’s drive from Cape Town, this quaint fishing town springs to life with its annual celebration of seafood, music, activities and West Coast culture this April.

30 April - 1 May - Elgin Cool Wine and Country Festival

The harvest has come to an end, the vineyards are decked in their autumn finery and just as the first vestiges of winter can be felt in the crisp air, the Elgin Wine valley opens its doors to visitors from far and wide for the annual Elgin Cool Wine and Country Food Festival which is to be held over the weekend of 30 April 2016 & 1 May 2016 from 09h00 until 17h00 daily.

Each of the participating wineries will offer a unique programme, allowing patrons to tailor-make their experience according to their own personal preferences, whilst enjoying a welcome alternative to the hustle and bustle of city life.

Award winning wines, a delectable culinary experience, a plethora of outdoor activities, live entertainment and natural scenic wonders will ensure that visitors, young and old, enjoy a memorable time in this hospitable valley.
