When the owners first bought
La Rive in 1993, it was barely recognisable from what it has become today. They spent the better part of 2 years renovating and developing their dream winelands home before completion by Easter 1995. Today, La Rive has been transformed into an incredibly warm and homely villa that resembles a marriage of colonial English and traditional Afrikaans / Dutch heritage. The sounds of water from various features around the grounds will transport you to a tranquil hideaway just off Franschhoek’s Main Road. Considering it’s only a block off this road, you’ll be amazed that you can’t see any forms of human habitation from all parts of the garden, swimming pool and outside verandahs.
With 6 magnificent bedrooms, and a luxurious, decadent interior design it mirrors an affluential country house in the days of old. It has been blasted into the modern era however, with all of the mod-cons of today, whilst being located in Franschhoek, the foodie capital of South Africa. With Cape Town being voted as the best foodie city in the world in 2016 then you can expect a culinary experience that you've never had before.
Asides from getting your taste buds raring to go and feast on the winelands delicacies, La Rive has magnificent grounds of its own. A large pool being the centre piece, joining all of the rooms together and creating a fabulous place to gather and relax in the serenity of the countryside. You can even craft your own pizzas using the in-built wood fired clay pizza oven. The smells and colours of the garden around the house and pool are stunning. It's like visiting a botanical garden, but it's right outside of your bedroom door, so relaxing with a book, or having a delicious light lunch under the shade of the trees is a must.
